Weekly Roundabout: 7/6 - 7/12
Recap of the last Week
This week started off pretty alright with a usual schedule of Monday-Wednesday-Friday doing runs and the rest of the in between days doing arm workouts. However this weekend, I went to Province Town in Cape cod with Dani.
I will say that I need to start writing these as the week goes by because I always have so much I want to write down and say as I am running and after the runs and after the workouts where I'm exhausted and had these specific thoughts that I wanted to convey.
I never have too many specific thoughts for my arm workouts though. It's usually the runs during the week that I get excited for and want to write about.
On Monday I ran a pretty basic 2.5 miler, nothing crazy, just something easy. Wednesday I did another 2.7 miles with mile 1 to 2 being something where I increased my cadence. I've been following a Garmin Half-Marathon workout with Coach Amy. It's been pretty nice so far. These runs have been boosting my confidence and working quite well into my weeks.
On Friday, I did a 5 mile run which I have not done a 5 mile run in a very long time that wasn't one week before a race. This was a 5 mile run essentially just to do a 5 mile run and get stronger and it felt great because of that. I had no pressure to go fast, I had a comfortable run where around 2.5 miles I picked up the pace a bit and around 4 miles I picked up the pace again. The idea being that the Garmin workout probably wants to help me find my running gears which has been happening. It's been nice slowing down and finding my appropriate heart beat and finding where I really want to be during these runs and how fast I should be going to be getting the best out of my workout.
This week would have had 5 runs but unfortunately as I am writing this, after a day at the beach at Cape Cod I have burned my back and front and shoulders to the point that not only can I not run today, I also cannot run tomorrow or workout for the next few days. I have put myself out of commission which is quite annoying, especially considering I was intending to do a 6 mile run this friday. I guess we'll have to see where this sun burn takes me. I'm hoping that by friday it will have healed a considerable amount and I'll be able to do it but we'll see.
Anyways, with that I am happy with my last week. I hit 12 miles for the week and I look forward to eventually hitting a 20 mile week. I was hoping to hit that next week with this week being a nice increase in miles but we will have to see. I hate I got this sun burn.
